Welcome to the new Lost Remote
A decade ago, I started Lost Remote with the slogan, “The TV Revolution is Coming. Are You Ready?” It’s safe to say the revolution has arrived, and that explains why I’ve been neglecting Lost Remote over the last few months.
That’s because I’ve always wanted to participate in the revolution, not just write about it. I work at msnbc.com, and my wife and I have built a promising hyperlocal startup, Next Door Media. Things have been a little busy, but I’m not ready to give up on Lost Remote just yet.
So I’ve switched the site to Tumblr, a microblogging platform that embraces the “following” culture. It allows me to easily post brief bits of content about the business of journalism, which are shared via Twitter, RSS and Facebook. You can share your comments, too. Think of it as a distributed aggregator of short-form content and links. The new metric won’t be page views, but “followers.”
Cory brought LostRemote over to Tumblr. It’ll be good to see LR stuff mixed in with the other tumblr users I follow. How many sites have moved their previous CMS mechanism over to Tumblr? Lost Remote is definitely the largest I’ve noticed. Most seem to be replacements for personal sites, like my own tiffehr.com.
