Driving at night on the interstate, dark dark dark*, listening to Sonic Youth’s Dirty, is pure summer perfection.

*in case you don’t know, North Carolina feels like a forest with towns in it, and at night all those trees suck up the light and create a whole new level of dark that prairie folk never imagined existed.
