“Young Sherlock Homes” (1985) dir. Barry Levinson

Above, Young Watson hallucinates and takes a cream pie to the face.

This, for a certain generation (some say the greatest generation) is the One True Holmes.

And if the scene where Elizabeth gets ritualistically waxed by members of an Egyptology cult didn’t keep you up for at least a week, you’re inhuman. Om nom zeebah.

From the wiki:

The film is notable for including the first fully computer-generated character, a knight composed of elements from a stained glass window. The effect was created by Lucasfilm’s John Lasseter.

Weird. Two days ago, my younger brother and I were recounting to our parents an episode where grandmother took us to see ‘101 Dalmations’ at the dollar theater but didn’t notice the movie wasn’t out yet. A 4- and 8-year-old sat through the first few minutes of this before grandmother hauled us out of the theater. My brother and I had nightmares for years. …I still haven’t seen the whole movie.

Agreed. Jeremy Brett, definitive. YSH, sentimental. RDJ, out of tonal range.
