Cuil Exits Stealth Mode With A Massive Search Engine
So this is what was being alluded to last Friday… interesting, there was a new player in the search space. Funny, I still remember the first time I was shown google (I was an Alta-vista user), while I was working at the Seahawks.
I don’t think google needs to be concerned. Yet.
I’m sure people have furthered my question with real research, but I do wonder if this is just data-/algorithm-junkies v. Google’s evolving SEO-driven advocacy of usability. Cuil indexes pages that Google declines due to redundancy with other content. Is there really a difference in search results? Or do I just get better counts for matches? Does that even matter if both bring back relevant results? So GoogleFight will be more accurate based on Cuil?
I think the undercurrent of the coverage and hype is that Cuil is made up of ex-Googlers who wanted the data to be the raw data and disagreed about filters. And that’s about it.
