The Inimitable Tiff

The online adventures of Tiff Fehr (@tiffehr), a UX engineerette at The New York Times. Feel free to peruse my somewhat popular geek-themed Tumblr, too, if that's your thing.

More personally than the above or below, I document notable adventures (much later than when they actually happen): Oktoberfest '04, Guatemala '08, Europe '10, Wisconsin '10, Middle East '11*. (* in progress)

Chekhov's Mistress: The Count of Monte Cristo

Because here’s the thing about Dumas – he is a storyteller almost without equal. Whether you read the 400 page abridged version or the 1100 page unabridged version, the pages will fly past almost of their own accord. Plot is something that has become unfashionable in literary fiction – at its expense, I believe, hence its disappearing audience – and I wanted to see if it was possible to graft a modern literary sensibility onto a good, old-fashioned roaring plot engine.

Best book ever. Sent to me by Jaime, aka ascendingcoherence
